Charity: Rays on the Runway

Last night CDF held one of their annual fundraiser's: Rays on the Runway! This event is one of my favorites throughout the year! As the limited amount of guests who attend are welcomed with fabulous cocktails and hors d'oeuvres then they experience a meet-and-greet with Tampa Bay Rays players, where baseballs are signed and pictures are taken to brag to all our friends! Top that with a fashion show that the players, their wives and dream children strut the lastest fashion styles from Saks Fifth Avenue. Ending the night with their signature baseball cake ball (can you say YUM!)! Heading to the car you just have a huge smile across your face as that feeling of knowing you had a marvolous time, great memories and gave to such an amazing organization. Wow. Again, such a great time!

Thank you to everyone who put on this event, it was wonderful!

I am always just so delighted to volunteer for Children's Dream Fund. The staff is always so geniune and passionate about their mission and everyone they come in contact with. It brings such big smiles and warms my soul. Honestly.

A little bit about Children's Dream Fund:
In 1981 a story went out over the AP wires that 8-year old Fransie Geringer of South Africa, who suffered with the aging disease Progeria, dreamed of meeting his hero Pinocchio. The Sunshine City of Jaycees of St. Petersburg responded by raising the money to bring Fransie and his family to Florida. After the visit, excess funds from the trip were offered to Fransie’s family. However, it was their wish that the funds be used to help other children. It was then that the Suncoast Children’s Dream Fund was born. A group of Jaycees formed this non-profit organization to fulfill the dreams of children with life-threatening illnesses on the West Coast of Florida.
The types of dreams vary greatly. They may involve meeting a celebrity, a trip, or a gift such as a computer or playground, or our most-requested dream, a week at the Give Kids the World Village, which enables a child to visit all of the Disney-area theme parks. No dream has been refused, except those involving motorized vehicles and firearms.

You can find more information on their website.
