[House of Etiquette] Table Manners

Just a little review from Emily Post Etipedia...

1. Chew with your mouth closed.
2. Avoid slurping, smacking, blowing your nose, or other gross noises. (If necessary, excuse yourself to take care of whatever it is you need to take care of.)
3. Don’t use your utensils like a shovel or as if you’ve just stabbed the food you’re about to eat.
4. Don’t pick your teeth at the table.
5. Remember to use your napkin at all times.
6. Wait until you’re done chewing to sip or swallow a drink. (The exception is if you’re choking.)
7. Cut only one piece of food at a time.
8. Avoid slouching and don’t place your elbows on the table while eating (though it is okay to prop your elbows on the table while conversing between courses.)
9. Instead of reaching across the table for something, ask for it to be passed to you.
10. Always say ‘excuse me’ whenever you leave the table.

Tee's Closet

I am going through this phase of....Not feeling sexy. Not feeling professional. Not feeling I look good in any of my current choices in the wardrobe areas. And if reality was on my side I would give it all away and start over. BUT it is unlikely for me to rid of all things in my dressing room (a.k.a. my closet) plus I think I would feel guilty of all the money I threw into it in the first place! So why not a virtual re-vamped dressing room? I am going to be adding things to my new closet right here for all to see and comment on...

And first we have up are these DARLING tory flats.....

Tailgating...SO. MUCH. FUN.

What better way to transport your beverage of choice (mine is usually champagne hehe) than in a step up from a red solo cup than GOVINO!

Have you heard of these babies? The super beverage gods made these. These glasses are shatterproof, reusable, and recyclable! AWESOME.

Jewelry!

Have you heard of Vestique? Me either, until TODAY!

[House of Manners] Formal Dinner Table

FORKS. SPOONS. KNIVES. PLATES. GLASSES.
OH MY!

I love formal dinners. I love hosting formal dinner parties. Setting the table, in my opinion, is my favorite part in getting ready for a formal get together. Be it the holidays, like Thanksgiving or Christmas, or just your best friends or parents are coming over to see you!

Personally, my tablescape is what sets the tone for the evening. You can bring colors into it with flowers, confetti, name plates, placemats, and of course the china and silverware!

Don't hyperventalate! It is FUN! I promise and the more you do it, even for just dinner with the hubs. You will become a pro in no time!

A saying always to remember...set the silverware on the table in the order that it will be used, from the outside in.

I was searching through pictures on my computer but you know pinterest's pictures are just so much brighter and clearer (since I use my Blackberry for a camera!) I just used diagrams from the best source out there, again in my opinion!

Here we go! Some inspiration to begin:

Onto the lesson! A little diagram to help settle those on going thoughts... its okay to print it out to help set the table! Do it. Your guests will be impressed. Promise.

A helpful sentence....The first course fork will be placed the farthest to the left of the plate and the first course knife will be the farthest to the right. Place any spoons (and appetizer forks) that will be used before dessert to the right of the knives. Dessert utensils should always be placed horizontally above the dinner plate, this includes coffee!

Make sure all stemware that will be used during dinner is preset on the tablescape. The water glass sits to the right of the plate while, just above the knife.
Wineglasses should be set to the right of the water glass.
Couple more photos to help visualize:
Isn't that fun?! Will you be hosting a rendenovous soon?
Do send pictures of your dinner parties!

[Real Party] Mimosa's & Jewerly

Stella & Dot

My sister and I hosted a Stella & Dot jewerly party this past weekend and let me tell you how surprised we were at the jewerly. Our representative, Tuesdi, had 39 pieces...each of them were simply stunning I tell you! I have not ever been a fan of the house parties for all the different types of things out there but something was different about Stella & Dot. I actually liked their pieces, their colors, and they were quality pieces! And everyone I talk to seems to also!

So...We hosted a Mimosa and Jewerly party. What a success! The sister made some yummy pink lemonade dessert bars, we had red velvet cake, and of course the center of attention: Mimosa's with either OJ or Pomegranate & Blueberries! I think friends, girlfriends make any party the best though!

One thing I have noticed I am not good at when I host a party...I forget to have someone take pictures of everything! Apologizing now...this is my new goal to work on since I host lots and want to share with you all!

We wanted to thank everyone who came to hang out with us girlies as well as to Tuesdi for hosting with the trunk show! It was so much fun! Hope you all are enjoying your pieces you ordered!

I did, however, take a picture of the favor. Single serving glasses of champagne to enjoy once they are home!
Cannot figure how to switch angles...sorry! Still learning :)

Ladies...hope to see you at Happy Hour wearing them!
I am thinking this would the perfect necklace for a fun ladies night:
